The city of Ossian was officially incorporated on March 14, 1850. Ossian bears the name of legendary Scottish Poet, Ossian, Son of Fingal. The city is served by Highway 1, which was constructd in 1843 to provide service betweeen Fort Wayne and Bluffton.
